Tonalist – was the up in time winner of today’s GI Belmont Stakes – California Chrome tied for 4th

Tonalist, in a just in time deep stretch lunge got his head in front of Commissioner, at the line to win the  $1.5 million, GI Belmont Stakes, For 3yo’s, going 1 1/2 mile over a “fast” Belmont Park Main Track today by a head.

3rd went to Medal Count , who was back another length with California Chrome, and Wicked Strong , dead heating to fill out the super in this year’s edition both back 3/4 length more!

California Chrome, and fellow traveler Ride On Curlin, pulled up to Barn #26 at Belmont Park at 10:45 a.m., this morning, where the GI Preakness 1-2 finishers will reside for the next 18 days leading up to the June 7 GI Belmont Stakes and a shot at “Triple Crown” glory!

California Chrome, and Victor Espinoza, did a very nice carbon-copy of their derby effort 2 weeks ago in winning today’s $1,500,000, GI Preakness Stakes, for 3yo, at 1 3/16  mile, over a “Fast ” Pimlico main track by 1½ length, over a persistant Ride On Curlin and doing it all over that persistently dead Pimlico rail this season, too.

Ride On Curlin , put up a stubborn stretch duel but never really made much headway settling for 2nd, 3rd went to Social Inclusion, who vied for the lead on the far turn but was quickly turned away finishing 6½ lengths further back at the line, and just a head in front of General A Rod, filling out the Preakness super!
