2013 GI Delaware Hcp – Probables with Free Past Performances

Royal Delta - wins her 2013 debut in the GIII Sabin Stakes at Gulfstream Park!
Royal Delta – winning her 2013 seasonal debut in the GIII Sabin Stakes at Gulfstream Park! earlier this year

The 2013 GI Delcap with a purse $750,000, for 4yo and up F/M’s, at 1 1/4 mile is just around the corner. So, below we’ve spotted some likely runners for this DelPark premiere thoroughbred event each summer season here!

Free Past Performances,

Royal Delta – 2012 Older Female HOY and 2012 Breeders Cup Ladies Classic winner made the trip to Dubai again this year for another shot at the $10,000,000 Dubai World Cup title. She came home empty handed again after leading that contest into the far turn that faltered back to a 10th place finish.

She returned to North American racing last out in the GII Fleur de Lis Handicap at Churchill last month with an unusual 5 length lose to Funny Proposition.

My Miss Aurelia – winner of the 2012 GI Cotillion and 3rd in the GIII Azeri Stakes last out. Her appearance here would be logical one for a former HOY filly!

Tiz Miz Sue – winner of the GIII Azeri Stakes and GI Ogden Philips Hcp last out this year. She is a patented late closer who gave Royal Delta all she could handle in last year’s GI Delcap as she was grinding away at Royal Delta lead in deep stretch here last year only to come up short by just a shrinking neck.

Dance Card – winner of the GI Gazelle Hcp last out. That win however was way back on Nov 24th last year at Aqueduct so  a long layoff for this GI winner here on Saturday!

Bryan’s Jewel – winner of the GIII Obeah Stakes (local prep for this race) last out! this one does have graded experience but is more of mid-atlantic favor in this race.

Other Possible runners are – She’s All In, And Why Not, Summer Applause, Authenticity and Funny Proposition.

Although not a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Ladies Classic contest the winner here will certainly be the one to beat on Nov 1st out at Santa Anita again this fall!

My Miss Aurelia coming out for GIII Azeri Stakes – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances

My Miss Aurelia - returns to racing this Saturday in the GIII Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn Park
My Miss Aurelia – returns to racing this Saturday in the GIII Azeri Stakes at Oaklawn Park

My Miss Aurelia , returns to racing this Saturday for her first out of the 2013 season in the $150,000, GIII Azeri Stakes, for 4yo&up F/M’s, going 1 1/16 mile over the Oaklawn Park main track!

Free Past Performances,

My Miss Aurelia, a multiple GI winning 4yo filly came just a length and a half back of Royal Delta in last fall’s B/C Ladies Classic. She then closed out 2012 with an oddly placed run in the GI La Brea Stakes, at 7f’s, where she finished oddly enough, 3rd! She’ll be making her first start of 2013 in this GIII Azeri dust-up here at Oaklawn Park this Saturday as a prohibitive favorite!

Tiz Miz Sue , returns to defend her 2012 GIII Azeri title after a decent enough 3rd in the local $100k Bayakoa Stakes here at Oaklawn for her first out of 2013. This one’s a dead closer with tons of graded experience and is going to give My Miss Aurelia all she can handle in the stretch here on Saturday. Remember, the 2012 Del-Cap where she gave Royal Delta all she could handle, holding off Tiz Miz Sue, at the line by just a neck!

Don’t Tell Sophia , has started off 2013 here at Oaklawn with a pair of local stakes wins in the Pippin and Bayakoa Stakes, winning both races by a combined 13 3/4 lengths as she picked up a 109 speed rating off that Bayakoa win last out! She tends to be a stalker/closer type so we wouldn’t look for her to be on the early engine here this Saturday, either!

She’s All In , finished 2nd in last year’s GIII Azeri and was 2nd last out here in that same $100k, Bayakoa Stakes. She’s won the Oklahoma Classics Distaff Stakes 3 years in a row now, won the GIII Sixty Sails Hcp at Hawthorne in 2012 and brings more graded stakes gravitas to this big GIII ladies 1 1 /16 mile shootout with over $800k lifetime earnings, as well!

Keiai Tokyo, won a starter optional claimer at the Fair Grounds last out, going a mile and 7o in 1:45 and chg, could be a picking up the pieces type here on Saturday!

Songs and Sonnets, owns consecutive alw wins in her last 2 outs and has earned this first shot at a G/S level event to test her racing mettle against top company. She might be the early speed here on Saturday but she’ll have to hold on for dear life to get a piece as this field is loaded with top F/M closers!

Holy Heavens, by Holy Bull and a Awesome Again mare hasn’t been out since a Aug 4th, $100k WV Secretary Of States Stakes outing at Mountaineer where she finished a middling 5th! Long layoff and coming back in a top company tussle, this one probably won’t find the board here on Saturday!

So, a very good field of top graded ladies runners is coming out here at Oaklawn Park in Race #9 with a Post Time of 5:13 pm CT.

More Chocolate is on short but sweet list for GI Santa Margarita Hcp – Probables with Free Past Performances

More Chocolate - biting off her first G/S win in the GII La Canada Stakes at Santa anita Park last out!
More Chocolate – biting off her first G/S win in the GII La Canada Stakes at Santa anita Park last out!

More Chocolate, is coming off a career best effort in the GII La Canada Stakes here last month and heads our short list of “probables” for Saturday’s $300,000, GI Santa Margarita Hcp, for top 4yo and up F/M’s, going 1 1/8 mile over the Santa Anita main!

She’ll be making her first start of 2013 in this top Santa Anita Older Fillies and Mares, GI dust-up!

Joyful Victory, a perennial board hitter in top graded F/M’s action around the country last season and is out of the Larry Jones school of proper conditioning for top filly and mare talents. She won the big $400,000, Houston Ladies Classic Stakes at Sam Houston Park last out on Jan 26th, by 4 1/4 lengths over a fine field of top 2-turn lady runners, gathering in a career best 111 speed rating off that effort!

Great Hot, wired the GII Santa Maria Stakes here last out in a gutsy front-running performance holding off a stubborn Book Review by 1/2 length at the line! She too is coming off a career best 103 speed rating!

Sitting over on the nominations sheet, but not committed to the race yet, are names like, Book Review, Snow Fall, Brushed by a Star and Zenyatta’s little sister Eblouissante looking to make her possible first graded start of her highly touted but brief career, thus far!

So, we’d look for a few more good ladies to show for Santa Anita’s top Fillies and Mares 2-turn, GI tussle in Saturday’s GI Santa Margarita Hcp!
