GIII Monrovia Handicap is Monday’s race of the day

GIII Monrovia Hcp is some downhill fun today at Santa Anita Park

Even though it’s been a busy 1st graded stakes weekend of 2012, there’s still more graded stakes action to ponder in the GIII $100,000, Monrovia Handicap, for 4+ Fillies and Mares, going 6 1/2 furlongs on the downhill turf run at Santa Anita today!

Free Past Performances

A good sized field of 11 was drawn for this GIII turfing sprint with the M/L fav being Unzip Me at 6/5!

Unzip Me is coming off 2 recent stakes wins here at Santa Anita over this same course so favorite status on the morning line makes sense to us!

The two ladies most likely to give her trouble are Mizdirection at 9/2 who is coming off an Alw win and a good 3rd in the GII Raven Run at Keeneland this fall and Givine at 5/1 who has been stair-stepping her way to a winner circle visit in her last several outings and seems do for one!

Other names to watch for in here are Up in time, Berg Bahn, Wild Mia, Separate Forest and multiple GI winner Champange d ‘Oro who is looking to get untracked here today!

So here is today’s Race #8 card at Santa Anita Park!

So this one will be run on our favorite surface of all-time, the Santa Anita downhill turf sprinting course as we could watch races all day long coming down that hill at break-neck speed!

Oh, this same course plays host to the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint too later this year, so you may want to eyeball this race for clues to this fall’s big event here!
