Iotapa, run a huge wire to wire score winning by almost 10 lengths in the $300,000, GI Vanity Stakes, For 4yo’s and up F/M’s, and going 1 1/8 mile over a “fast” Santa Anita Main Track today .
2nd and back those cavernous lengths was Grace Hall, 3rd went to Scherzinger , who proved she can go 2-turns but back 1 3/4 length more, with Let Faith Arise, filling out today’s super back another length and 3/4’s further!
Fiftyshadesofhay, came off the stretch rail to then maneuver to outside to get up for the just in time ¾ length win in today’s $200,000, GII Ruffian Hcp., for 4yo&up F/M’s, at 1 mile, over the Belmont Park main track!
Grace Hall, who’d been out of racing for a year did grab a late stretch lead before giving way to this winner in the shadow of the line. 3rd went to My Wandy’s Girl, back just a nose withSix Queens, the early front runner holding on to fill out today’s super was back 3½ lengths more at the line!
On Fire Baby, lead from gate to wire but had to hold off Tiz Miz Sue, who was making another patented late run at her to win by a 1/2 length in today’s $500,000, GI Apple Blossom Hcp, 4yo and up F/M’s, going 1 1/16 mile over the Oaklawn main!
Grace Hall , a multiple graded winning 3yo filly in 2012, was 3rd to Royal Delta in the GIII Sabin Stakes at Gulfstream for her first out of 2013 and 4th in the 2012 B/C Ladies Classic tussle 2 back, makes her Oaklawn Park debut in Friday’s $500,000, GI Apple Blossom Stakes, for 4yo and up F/M’s, going 1 1/16 mile over the Oaklawn main track.
Tiz Miz Sue , the double GIII Azeri Stakes winner here at Oaklawn Park for the past 2 seasons looks to be one of several other top 4yo lady combatants for this prestigious GI title! Look for another great late run from this veteran 2-turn lady closer!
Don’t Tell Sophia , 2nd in that same GIII Azeri Stakes by just a length and 1/4, had won the 2 previous GI Apple Blossom prep’s here at Oaklawn this season and was on the lead in that GIII Azeri Stakes turning for home, until she falter in deep stretch to open the door for the late running Tiz Miz Sueto run through! She’ll have to do more in the stretch this time to win this GI outing!
Summer Applause , comes in off a top winning performance in the GII Top Flight Hcp at Aqueduct last out where peeled away the field at the top of the stretch to go onto a comfortable 2 3/4 lengths win! The distance will be no problem for her, but she is trying this Oaklawn main for the time on a shipping in effort here this Friday!
She’s All In , is another graded winner who finished 4th in that same GIII Azeri Stakes here last time, but was 2nd in in 2012 GIII Azeri Stakes, so she got some runs over this surface already. She’ll be making her GI debut in this top older f/m field here on friday!
On Fire Baby , winner of the 2012 GIII Honeybee Stakes, then came 5th in the GI Kentucky Oaks and then a decent enough 4th in the GI Acorn has been away from racing for nearly a year now. She will be making her first racing appearance here since Memorial Day weekend of last year! She is a top older F/M talent, but the long layoff bodes some caution here for us!
Bryan’s Jewel , fills out this GI race card and is coming in off a very nice $100,000 Aoc win at 6f here in 1:10.3 and could play the part of the early speed here on Friday!
So, all in all this might be the best older filly and mare field that can be assembled right now, as Royal Delta is still recouping from her latest Dubai World Cup outing, in the 2013 edition of the GI Apple Blossom Hcphere in the Arkansas Derby’s week parade of top graded action at Oaklawn Park!
