TVG Coaching Club American Oaks is Saratoga’s first GI of the season | Free Past Performances

Saturday brings us the first big GI tilt of the 2011 Saratoga season with the TVG Coaching Club American Oaks, for 3yo fillies only, going 1 1/8 mile, for $250,000 in purse money!

Free Past Performances  here!

This year’s field has but 5 fine ladies, but they are quite possibly the top 5 fillies in this division!

So lets do some intro’s here!

Loading up in Gate #1 at 7/2 is Buster’s Ready winner of the GI Mother Goose last month at Belmont Park!

Gate #2  at 3/1 finds GI Kentucky Oaks winner Plum Pretty!

Gate #3  at 6/1 holds GI Mother Goose runner-up Joyful Victory!

Gate #4 at 2/1 is hiding the GII Black-eyed Susan winner Royal Delta!

Gate #5 at 3/1 is filled by the GI Acorn winner It’s Tricky from Belmont Stakes day!

Our picks are Plum Pretty, Buster’s Ready and Royal Delta, It’s Tricky in exactas and tri’s!

This contest may go a long ways toward deciding the 3yo female Eclipse award winner this year and any of these 5 fine ladies would be a most welcomed addition to this year’s Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic too!

So “short but sweet” is the buzz for this year’s edition of the GI Coaching Club American Oaks!

Buckle up, it’s a good one!

*Note of Caution – this is a 3yo contest and in case you’ve forgotten already all the big 3yo races this year have gone to double-digits/1, long shots. So the trend should still be our friend here! So Teens/1 on top isn’t such a crazy idea in at least 1 of your exotic plays!

Watch Paddy O’Prado come up the rail, in the stretch, to win the 2010 Virginia Derby and go on to earn the 3yo male turf horse of the year, Eclipse Award  last year!
