9, 3yo fillies will trod the sod this Sunday at Gulfstream Park as this group will kick-start the 3yo fillies turf graded season into high gear!
Candy Kitty , at 3/1, by Lemon Drop Kid, is the m/l fav here after winning the $100k Ginger Brew Stakes here on Jan 5th by a length in a very nice stalking trip. She also won the Wait a While Stakes here 2 back in another good stalking trip. Trained by Todd Pletcher she has matured into a top of her generation 2 – turn 3yo lady turfer and very deserving of being the M/L fav.
Room Service , at 4/1, by More Than Ready, finished 3rd, 1 1/4 length back in the $100k Sweet Chant Stakes here on Jan 26th last out with a late stretch run. A closer type here!
Merry Merry Bee , at 5/1, by Purim, was swung 5w in that same $100k Ginger Brew Stakes here last out finishing 4th back 2 1/4 lengths after trailing that field for most of the race! More of a closer type which is a godd thing for a turfer!
Seeking Her Glory , at 6/1, by Giant’s Causeway, is the 2nd Todd Pletcher trainee out here for this race. He final broke her maiden here on Feb 9th in a $47k mdn at a lengthy 1 1/8 mle run in a very nice 1:47.4, in a 2 length wire to wire score. She might be the early controlling speed in this race.
Hardly , at 8/1, by Hard Spun, came 4th back 1 3/4 length in that same $100k Sweet Chant Stakes here on Jan 26th, after a good solid early bumping left her at the back of pack at the first call, but she did make up a lot of ground late. Just a Mdn winner with some closing abilities.
America , also at 8/1, by A.P. Indy, was 5th in the GII Demoiselle Stakes last out owns but a closing mdn win on her 3 race career tab. Lost to Candy Kitty , in her only turf run at Saratoga last summer by 5 plus length. Top connections here but a long layoff and little on her balance sheet would make this one a super play only and only at 10/1 or better!
Valseuse, at10/1, by Kitten’s Joy, Raging Atlantic , at 10/1, by Stormy Atlantic, and High Wire Kitten , at 12/1, by Kitten’s Joy, could be competitive in this field but are all either coming off Mdn wins or lesser Alw efforts. All have good connections as any of them could surprise in here. Using any of them at the back of a dime super isn’t a crazy idea besides what else can you buy for 30 cents anymore!
