California Chrome, at 1/1, drew post #1 as he looks to reestablish himself as the top 3yo in the land here on Saturday with a big win. With wins in the Derby, Preakness and a last out DH for 4th in the Belmont Stakes you’d already think 3yo HOY honors should be awaiting him. He looked sharp and fit in his past 3 workouts and this 1 1/8 mile is well within his resume sheet, too. He’ll probably stalk an early pace laying just to outside of the early leaders in the clear, then bust for home at the top of the lane. Stalker/Pouncer type!

GI Haskell and GII Woody Stevens Stakes winner in Bayern, at 7/2, found the 1 1/4 mile distance of the GI Travers Stakes last time out to not be his thing with a last place finish after handling the leader’s duties for the first 3/4 of a mile. 1 1/8 mile is probably his limit as he’ll look to steal this one with a hot early pace! Early speed here!

Tapiture – at 5/1, recent winner of the GII West Virginia Derby by a nose over Candy Boy. He has also won the GIII Southwest Stakes and GIII Matt Winn Stakes as well! Stalker/closer type here

Protonico – at 6/1, most recent winner of the GIII Smarty Jones Stakes here at Parx on Labor day that serves as the local prep race for the P.A. Derby each season winning with a big late surge! Not an early speed type but his in with some very fast company here and may be over his head here! Closer type!

Candy Boy at 12/1,who just missed winning that same GII event might be best known as California Chrome’s 2nd in the early west coast derby trail tests this season! Closer type for the most part!

CJ’s Awesome, at 12/1, who is a 1x alw winner up at Saratoga last out in a wire to wire score travelling 1 1/8 mile in a nice 1:49.24 to a 7 plus lengths win! More possible early speed here!

Noble Moon, at 15/1. winner of the GII Jerome Stakes way back on 01/04, then 6th in the GI Wood Memorial Stakes and last out was 4th in the GI Kings Bishop Stakes up at Saratoga back on the Travers card! He has only 3 starts this year as this son of Malibu Moon does have fresh legs for this race and that is always a plus this time of year! He can go early or rate!

Classic Giacnroll, at 15/1, was 2nd in the same GIII Smarty Jones Stakes here at Parx on Labor day who was nipped at the line by Protonico. He was also 4th in that same GII West Virginia Derby 2 back now. Closer type here too!
