Only a “6 pack” coming out for Wise Dan-less GII FourStarDave Hcp this year – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances

SilverMax - runs off with a boggy GII Hcp win at Saratoga today!
SilverMax – running off with a boggy GII win at Saratoga last season!

Well, race fans, there’ll be no Wise Dan coming out to defend his $500,000, GII FourStarDave Hcp title, for 3yo and up turfers, going just a mile over the Saratoga inner turf this Saturday, as a solid field of just “6” subs will vie for this year’s title!

Free Past Performances

Silver Max, at 9/5, who loves to go early and run them off their feet fast will be the control speed here after winning the GII Firecracker at Churchill last time in that same front running fashion and he did beat Wise Dan in that off the turf and soggy GI Shadwell Mile last fall.

Jack Milton, at 5/2, winner of the GIII Poker at Belmont 2 back in a very crisp 1:33 flat, then travel west to an off 5th finish in the GI Shoemaker mile. Closer type here!

Seek Again, at 3/1,came right off a transatlantic flight late last fall to snap up the win in the GI Hollywood Derby, then 2 back was 2nd by a head to Wise Dan in the GI Turf Classic at Churchill this spring, but most recently finished with a no real stretch kick in the GI Manhattan last time finishing 3rd, 2 1/4 off Real Solution but did just missed 2nd by a nose in that race. Like all good euro’s, he comes in the stretch when he is right!

Grand Arch, at 8/1, winner of the GII King Edward Stakes up at Woodbine most recently with a driving finish for the 1/2 length win. He deserves a look here as he covered that 1-mile course in a fresh 1:32.2. Comes late, when he comes!

Sayaad, at 5/1, winner of 3 in a row, including a last out Stakes win in the $150k Forbidden Apple Stakes at Belmont over some yielding going that day as he when wire to wire in his last score and does tend to prefer being on or near the early pace most times!

Dorsett, at 20/1, is well traveled in the graded ranks but has very little to show for it and like his turf passport shows he is all over the place when it comes to the early pace and doesn’t appear to have much of a late kick either especially in big time company like this! Use this one only at the back end of a dime super play, if you must!
