7 older turfers set go to in GII Bowling Green Hcp – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances

Boisterous - winning the GIII Fort Marcy Stakes here at Belmont Park earlier this spring
Boisterous – winning at Belmont Park last year!

Here on Belmont Park’s closing weekend of the Spring/Sumer meet “7” long distance turfers will come out for the $200,000, GII Bowling Green Hcp., for 4yo and up turfers, at 1 1/2 mile over the Belmont Park sod!

Free Past Performances

Grandeur, before coming to America, was a good distance turfer in his European campaigns, but has come 3rd in the GI Man o’ War and 4th in that same GI Manhattan Stakes in his 2 most recent outings! Comes late like any good euro turfer and maybe ready for a bit of graded glory here!

Boisterous , is a multiple graded winner in 2013, but 2014 has not been as kind with only 1 board hit in 3 graded tries this season with the last being a very weak 7th finish in that same GI Manhattan last time out. We’re not sure he really wants this distance here on Saturday but he’s on the high side of the talent in this race so he is useable. Stalks and pounces when he’s right!

Reflecting, who was off just a length at the line of that same Belmont Gold Cup 2-mile journey last time gets the cut back to this 1 1/2 mile distance here on Saturday. He can close, stalk or go early but seems best at closing late. He should be in the mix here on Saturday!

Hangover Kid, 3rd in the 2013 GI United Nations Stakes as a high point of his turf career and did finish a coming 2nd most recently in the GII Monmouth Stakes just 1 1/2 length off that winner. Seems to do his best running at these longer turf distances but is not an early speed type as closing late seems to be his thing!

Chamois, 2 back he was a good 3rd, by a length, in the GII Dixie Stakes at Pimlico on Preakness Day, but last out in the GI Manhattan his was a distant 10th,12 lengths off the winner in that 1 1/4 mile turf tussle. Going longer here make no sense to us as he has no experience at this distance. He does have a decent stalking resume and does offer some graded experience, too.

Sky Blazer , was 5th in that 2-mile marathon most recently in that first ever Belmont Gold Cup turfer here last month. 2 back he came a distant 6th in the GIII Fort Marcy. Not an early speed type and not likely to hit the board here either!

Horvat Clan, winner of a $77k 1x alw at 1 1/2 mile here last out going wire to wire on the front end covering the ground in 2:29.3 to a 2 1/2 lengths win. This one’s been bouncing around the claim box more than a time or 2 in his career but looks to be way over his head here in this graded company. He could be in the early vanguard here.
