Kauai Katie returns in GII Distaff Hcp. – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances

Kauai Katie - in a tour de force win in the GII Forward Gal Stakes at Gulfstream Park this past winter!
Kauai Katie – in a tour de force win in the GII Forward Gal Stakes at Gulfstream Park last year!

Kauai Katie will come off the Todd Pletcher bench to make her first outing since last summer up at Saratoga in Saturday’s $200,000, GII Distaff Hcp. for 4yo and up F/M sprinters, at 6f’s over the Aqueduct main track.

Free Past Performances,

Kauai Katie , at 3/1, is a multiple graded winner and was 6 for 7 in her first lifetime starts. She had trouble however, at the GI level coming 3rd and then 6th in the GI Acorn and then the GI Prioress Stakes before bowing out for the season last summer. Nothing in her recent works however says she found that early 2013 form again so do not bet the farm here. She loves it up front early when she’s right!

La Verdad , is actually the 5/2 m/l odds favorite here this Saturday and has won 6 of her last 7 races losing by a length in the GII Barbara Frichtie Stakes at Laurel 2 back! Trained by Linda Rice, this 4yo daughter of Yes It’s True really love to bring it early, so look for her in the early vanguard here on Saturday!

My Pal Chrisy , at 7/2, running in the  $200,000 Sugar Maple Stakes at Charles Town Races instead.

Munnings Sister , checks in at 4/1, is a multiple stakes winner and a solid graded runner too, coming 3rd behind Judy the Beauty last time out in the GIII Las Flores Stakes out at Santa Anita. Early speed/Stalker type that might do well to just sit off this expected quick early pace!

Lion D N A , at 8/1, has 2 stakes wins over the Aqueduct inner track early this past winter but faltered badly in a cheap alw test last out coming 5th, 5 lengths off that winner. She’s been out of racing for nearly 2 months now but perhaps it is the pause that refreshes! Good stalking abilities most times but can go early and still be in the mix!

Bridgehampton , at 10/1, was 2nd 2 back in the GIII Victory Ride at Belmont last fall and has since won an Aqueduct Alw test last out in an almost wire to wire score! Stalks early, pounces then tries to hold on for the win!

Miss d’Oro , at 20/1, has also been out of racing since May of last year but was a good 2nd here last year in this 1-turn sprint. Mostly a closer type so no early speed here!

So, the graded season is quickly winding down here in the Aqueduct winter/spring meeting as Belmont beckons on May 1st but first there’s this GII Distaff Hcp to contend with here in the Big Apple this Saturday before we get Belmont bound!
