Samraat and Uncle Sigh draw outside posts in GI Twinspires.com Wood Memorial Stakes Rematch – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances
Samraatand Uncle Sigh, will tie it on one more time this Saturday’s in the $1,000,000, GI Twinspires.com Wood Memorial Stakes, for 3yo, at 1 1/8 mile over the Aqueduct main track as another 100 derby points goes to this year’s victory.
If you’ve been following this year’s Derby trail action, at all, then you know of the ongoing rivalry between the undefeated Samraatand his runner-up sidekick Uncle Sigh, has been raging here at Aqueduct all winter long, as the pair has come 1-2 in both the GIII Withers Stakes and the GIII Gotham Stakes, running side by side all the way around the Aqueduct inner-track to a pair of very exciting stretch duels.
Social Inclusion, should also be in the mix here too coming in off a record-setting G/P alw performance last out, whileNoble Moon, also returns to Aqueduct as the last out winner of the GII Jerome Stakes here earlier this winter.
Uncle Sigh, at 5/1, 2nd in both GIII Withers Stakes and the GIII Gotham Stakes could find that bridesmaid label really sticking with another runner-up showing here! He needs the points and the win here to truly move on to Louisville next month!
both are early front runners, so look for that early speed duel to develop once again!
Social Inclusion, is the 2/1 m/l favorite and is the widely heralded new comer to graded 3yo racing winning a big G/P alw last out beating the highly regarded Honor Code by 10 full lengths and covering the 1 1/16 mile in a course record of 1:40.97! Another early speed here so look for quick early factions here on Saturday!
Kristo, at 6/1, 3rd in the GII San Felipe Stakes last out but was 13 lengths off California Chrome and had a good 2nd in the GIII Sham Stakes as both placings came out at Santa Anita Park this winter! He couldn’t handle the quick early pace of California Chrome last out but finds himself with 3 more early speeds here on Saturday! He should probably try an rate a bit in here but will need to stay in contact with those early runners too!
Harpoon, at 8/1, 5th in the GIII Gotham Stakes last out is back to try the Aqueduct main again. Showed good abilities with a solid 2nd in the GIII Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs loosing only by a nose that day! He has a mixed record of early speed, stalking and closing so your guess is as good as anyone’s what he’ll do early on here this Saturday!
Noble Moon, at 12/1, winner of the GII Jerome Stakes here last out has been cooling his heels since waiting on this first Saturday in April start! 3rd in the GII Nashua here last fall so he knows this surface well but to us, he’s a little light on experience. He is a Malibu Moon so big time racing is in his blood. The PP’s show he too likes to go out early, so that early vanguard is starting to look rather crowded!
Wicked Strong, at 15/1, 3rd in the GII Remsen Stakes here last fall, but finished 4th last out in that same G/P Alw that the now top derby prospect inConstitution, won on his way to last Saturday’s GI Florida Derby win.
Kid Cruz, now Scr’d at 20/1, winner of the $100k Private Terms Stakes at Laurel last out where he came in a really big hurry late after dawdling 10 lengths back running down the laurel backstretch. Trained by Linda Rice, this one earned his way into a graded start somewhere but this is really deep water here! He is mostly a closer type !
Schivarelli , at 15/1, winner of 2 in row including a last out Alw win at Aqueduct winning by a full 12 lengths and in front running fashion, too. Just two starts on his resume so he’s a bit short on experience here. Might be unwise to chase this group early.
Effinex, at 20/1 is a Mdn winner here at Aqueduct on Mar, 1st with a nice rallying up 3w stretch drive to a 6 1/4 lengths going away win. He’s a Mineshaft out of a E Dubai mare so long distances are in his blood. Again probably needs more seasoning but does closes nicely.
Los Borrachos, at 30/1is a Mdn winner here at Aqueduct on Mar, 8th by 1 1/2 length last time in a nice closing run! Trained by Bill Mott and is a Pulpit out of a Distorted Humor mare so the blood is right for this distance. He’ll get a ton experience here on Saturday which will be helpful for him down the road but not here this Saturday! Will go 2-turns for the first time over the big track here this Saturday!
