Sahara Sky to take 2nd bit at GI Carter Hcp. title – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances

Sahara Sky - the razor thin winner of today's GI Met Mile at Belmont Park
Sahara Sky – with the razor thin winin last year’s GI Met Mile at Belmont Park

Sahara Sky , returns to the Big Apple this Saturday for another bit at the $500,000, GI Carter Hcp., for 4yo and up sprinters, going fast 7’s over the Aqueduct main track missing this title by just 3/4’s of a length here last year as this race will go as the final big GI race on very busy Aqueduct/Wood Memorial Day race card.

Free Past Performances,

Sahara Sky , at 2/1 here, did win the GI Met Mile here in NYC last year and is coming in off a solid win in the GII San Carlos Stakes out at Santa Anita last time.  He is a consummate closer so look for a big late move rolling down the Aqueduct center as if he were shot from a cannon, as that is his M/O!

Golden Ticket , at 3/1, is more of a 2-turn horse but did come 2nd in last fall’s B/C Dirt Mile to Goldencents, but 7’s might not be long enough for him as he always runs a good race at any distance!

Strapping Groom , at 4/1, is last summer’s GI Forego Stakes winner up at Saratoga and rolls in here off a pair of inner track wins this winter in the Gravesend Stakes and the GIII Tom Fool Stakes. It was long ago this one got pick up of out a $35k claimer and now has nearly a million dollars in winnings! 7f’s however, seems to be his outer limits as he is mostly a stalker/closer type!

Clearly Now , at 5/1, was something of a 3yo speed specialist last year winning the GIII Swales Stakes and GIII Bold Ruler Stakes and pretty much hitting the board in everything they put him in last year too! He is however making his first start of 2014 here after sitting things out from a 5th place finish against the older boys in the GI Cigar Mile here last fall! Stalker type for the most part.

Central Banker , also at 5/1, has numerous graded sprint board hits but no graded titles as a 3yo last year ending 2103 with a solid 2nd in the GI Malibu Stakes last Dec. First start of his 4yo season here too. Loves this distance and will roll up late, as well!

Dads Caps , at 12/1, is a solid hitter in the Aqueduct older horse sprinting ranks and loves to fly early but gets caught in the stretch when running in the graded rank settling for minor awards of late. Early speed here for sure!

Saturday’s Charm , at 20/1, is another solid hitter in the Aqueduct older horse sprinting ranks but tends to be more of a picking up the pieces type and makes a solid living for his connections with a lot of 2nd’s 3rd’s and 4th’s over the past year or so at the Oc, Stakes and GIII levels! Probably not a threat to win here but if the price is right he might fill out the super here for you, so toss 10 cents at this one on the back-end of your dime super!

So, if you got the need for a little Wood Memorial day speed then the GI Carter Hcp. is your race of the day here at Aqueduct this Saturday!
