Vicar’s in Trouble – winner of today’s GII Louisiana Derby at the Fairgrounds!

Vicar’s in Trouble, grabbed the early lead and was never headed again, going the entire 1 1/8 mile course on the front end to win today’s $1,000,000, GII Louisiana Derby, for 3yo’s, at 1 1/8 mile over a “fast” Fairgrounds main track winning by 3 1/2 lengths.

Intense Holiday, came 2nd back those 3 1/2 length but couldn’t keep up with the winner in the stretch, setting for the runner up spot. Long shot Commanding Curve, rallied up for 3rd but was back 1 1/2 length further, with Albano , who was lost in traffic in this race after nearly winning the GII Risen Star last out filled out today’s super back another 3 3/4 lengths.

Vicar’s in Trouble, picked a Derby 140 gate with his 100 points win here giving him a grand total of 120 derby points this season, putting him atop of the 2014 Derby Points standings, right now!

Intense Holiday, picked up another 40 Derby points here for his 2nd giving him a grand total of 93 points as he’s earned a trip to the big dance this May 3rd.

Commanding Curve, earned 20 derby points here but needs more points for a 2014 Derby 140 berth.

 Albano, earned 10 more Derby Points and when added to the 24 points he’s already earned gives him 34 Derby points and earns him the “bubble boy” status for Derby 140.
