The GIII Gulfstream Park Sprint is on tap here this Saturday at Gulfstream Park
The GII Hutcheson Stakes for 3yo sprinters is on tap here this Saturday at Gulfstream Park

The $200,000, GII Hutcheson Stakes, for 3yo sprinters, at 7f’s, over the Gulfstream main track welcomes 10, 3yo speedsters who are coming out for this dash for some south florida cash!

Free Past Performances,

No Derby Points here either for this GII race but you could spot a potential 2014 GII Woody Stevens or GI King’s Bishop runner or two in this pack here on Saturday!

Wildcat Red , at 5/2, by D’wildcat, might be the best known 3yo in this 7f shootout, finishing 2nd here last out in the Gulfstream Park Derby to General A Rod as they goggled the lead in that race several times with Wildcat Red , coming up a head short at the line! He did win the $125k Juvenile Sprint Stakes here 2 back with a good stretch run at 6 1/2 f’s covered in 1:17.4. He has 4 lifetime starts all here at G/P with 3 wins and that GP Derby 2nd by just a head makes him a valuable exotics choice for us!

Trail Blaze , at 3/1, by Indian Charlie, came 4th but 10 back in that same $100k, Spectacular Bid Stakes here at G/P last out. He’s but 2 races on his lifetime resume but a gets return to the saddle by Joel Rosario hoping he can return this one to his maiden breaking form once again!

C. Zee , at 5/1, by Elusive Bluff, was 2nd best here at G/P last out in the $100k, Spectacular Bid Stakes closed late to be the best of the rest but back 2 1/4 lengths that day. Seems to close well enough and in 3 lifetime starts, he has never been out of the exacta payout, too!

Pablo Del Monte , at 6/1, by Giant’s Causeway, finished 5th 2 back in the GIII Generous Stakes out at BHP and was 4th here in that same G/P Derby. He does have sprinters speed however as he clicked of a 1:15.2 winning time in a Keeneland poly 6 1/2 f  Alw tussle by 7 1/2 lengths going wire to wire 3 back now! A solid pedigree, graded experience with good speed and with a good price could land this one in our exotics thinking, as well!

Gambler’s Ghost , at 8/1, by Ghostzapper, broke his Mdn here last out at 6f’s run in a smart 1:09.4 winning time as he coasted to a 5 length win in that wire to wire score. Might be an early speed here this Saturday but with just 2 races under his belt you just don’t quite know what you’ve got here yet! Go slow with this one here on Saturday!

Long On Value , at 10/1, by Value Plus, started his 2yo season last year with 3 straight wins culminating with a win in the $50k Strike Your Colors Stakes at Del-Park by 6 going a way lengths last summer. He found himself next in the GI Hopeful Stakes over a muddy Saratoga surface finishing 6th, double-digits back of Strong Mandate! His last out was in the GI Champagne Stakes last fall at Belmont with another 6th finish as that mile tussle was too much distance for him. So it’s back to sprinting basics for this Bill Mott trainee and he’ll also be getting a newly returned to racing ride from Hall Of Fame jockey Johny V.  here on Saturday. He could be a force to be reckoned with here this Saturday!

Vinceremos , at Scr’d, is cross-entered in the GIII Sam Davis Stakes over at Tampa Bay Downs too this Saturday. He’s a son of Pioneer Of The Nile out of a More Than Ready mare for which Todd Pletcher has high hopes for, but is a probable Saturday morning scratch here!

Spot , at 12/1, by Pulpit, whose last out was an Oct 24th Hawthorne $27k, 6f mdn win run in 1:10.2 winning by 8 1/2 lengths. This is a long time out of racing for a promising 3yo but you gotta start them somewhere in their 3yo campaign as this would seem to be his “Spot” for a 2014 debut!

Mighty Brown , at 15/1, is a well-travelled son of Big Brown, who won the Pasco Stakes over at Tampa Bay Downs 2 back by a drawing off 3 1/4 lengths. He didn’t fare as well last out in the Jan 21st $50k OBS Sprint where briefly vied for the early lead only to faded to 5th over that wet-fast surface! Seems to be moving backwards right now and with 10 races under his belt already maybe a freshening is due for him next, after all this will be his 3rd race in 4 weeks! Use this one sparingly here on Saturday!

Tashir , at 20/1, by Afleet Alex, laid the wood to a group of freshly minted 3yos over at Calder in a Jan 17th, 2nd level Alw tussle last out winning by 9-plus lengths and covering that 7f shootout in 1:23.3. Might be a raw talent just coming into he own now but with any kind of improvement in here and he could find a home on the board!
