Mucho Macho Man leads a six pack in the Sunshine Millions Classic – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances

MuchoMachoManMucho Macho Man , who held off Will Take Charge (←seen to the left here) in the final jump to win last fall’s Breeders’ Cup Classic scrap by a nose out at Santa Anita, makes his first out, 2014 appearance in Saturday’s $400,000, Sunshine Millions Classic test, for 4yo and up, at 1 1/8 mile over the Gulfstream Park main.

Free Past Performances,

A field of six older Florida breds was drawn for the grand finale to a big day of graded style racing here at Gulfstream Park this Saturday!

Mucho Macho Man , at 2/5, will be a big post time favorite as he was the 2012 champ here 2 years ago but dnf here in 2013 as an injury sidelined for much of 2013 off that contest.

This 2013 HOY candidate also won the GI Awesome Again Stakes, 2 back out at Santa Anita Park last fall! He is a multiple graded winner and is always a stalking present in almost all his outings with a big kick finish!

Bernie the Maestro , at 4/1, might be the best known of the rest of this group, winning the Michael G. Schaefer Memorial Stakes at Indiana Downs 2 back, but slumped a bit last out with a 6th finish in a the Dec. 7th Starter Stakes here at Gulfstream where he couldn’t keep up the early pace setter then drifted back in the stretch for the off the board finish. Picking a 2nd to Mucho Macho Man here will be a true handicapper’s challenge.

Gourmet Dinner , at 6/1, once a South Florida early derby prospect in 2011 after winning the 2010 GIII Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes still earns his weight in hay each season since by making the occassional cameo board hit appearance in stakes and graded events.

He was 3rd in the Board Brush Stakes last out at Laurel which is a good example of what we are talking about! He tends to run on early if memory serves and might be part of the early pace here on Saturday!

Joshua’s Comprise , at 30/1, was something of 2013 early Derby buzz horse here in South Florida last winter, coming 4th in the Gulfstream Park Derby and 4th again in the GIII Holy Bull Stakes here last year. He then finished a way out it 8th in the GII Besilu Fountain of Young Stakes and since has found the winner’s circle but once and that was in a$36k Aoc win here last August! He tends to hang back for a picking up the pieces type finish!

Rule Number Six, at 12/1 and Decaf Again , at 20/1, are both South Florida known quanties as both have some stakes experience but tend they to do their best work down at the lower levels.

If it weren’t for the presents of the $400k purse and Mucho Macho Man in this race you could find the rest of this field in a Calder or Gulfstream minor stakes race any time of the year!

… and “If” all goes according to Hoyle, Mucho Macho Man , “should” stalk what ever pace he finds in front of him and somewhere on the far turn he’ll collar the leader, then set sail for home wholly uncontested, if all goes according to Hoyle!
