“8” sprinters going postward in GIII Mr Prospector Stakes – Post Positions, Picks, M/L Odds, Free Past Performances

The GIII Gulfstream Park Sprint is on tap here this Saturday at Gulfstream Park
The GIII Mr Prospector Stakes is on tap here this Saturday at Gulfstream Park

Well, not all the best fleet-footed older horses are out west this weekend as Gulfstream Park will feature the $100,000, GIII Mr Prospector Stakes, for 3yo’s and up, at 6f’s over the Gulfstream main on this Saturday’s card!

Free Past Performances,

Star Harbour , at 5/2 is the semi-lukewarm M/L favorite here this Saturday comes in off a 1/2 length win over the irrepressible Jackson Bend and Bahamian Squall in the $100k Sunshine Stakes here last out, clicking off a 1:08.3 first 3/4’s, then going 1:21.2 for the 7f win. This one likes it up front early, and plays catch me if you can, so looks for him here on Saturday to at least be in the early vanguard.

Black Diamond Cat , at 3/1, is a south florida favorite sprinting son with multiple stakes wins down here this year. He did finish 6th in the $75k Kenny Noe Stakes at Calder last out after a 3 month layoff. He’ll need to find that summertime form again to even vie here on Saturday and this 3/1 m/l is truly a gift!

Apriority , at 4/1, is an old salt at the sprinting wars with multiple graded wins on a very  impressive sprinting resume. He, however, has had few board hits of late, but last out in a Aoc here back on Nov 24th won a 6f tilt in a solid 1:09.2. Perhaps he is finding those sprinters legs once again and thus the very correct 4/1 morning line here!

Fort Loudon , at 6/1, is the winner of the GIII Gulfstream Sprint Championship Stakes here this past Feb. clicking off a very nice 1:21.4 in that 7f victory. But in his last 6 graded stakes or stakes outings has nary a board hit to his credit. Still, we like him to be in the mix here on Saturday in some way as this Florida boy will grab his share of the local money!

Travelin Man , also at 6/1, will be another hometown favorite son here on Saturday with 2 consecutive Sir Shackleton Stakes wins over this surface in the past two years! He hasn’t fared very well since that March stakes win here with only a 3rd to Apriority, in that same Aoc tilt here back on Nov 24th as the only other board hit of the year for him, but perhaps Todd Pletcher has got him ready this time for a return to his top form!

Singanothersong , at 8/1, is more local heat winning a $32k Oc here at 6f’s in a sharp 1:08.3 here at Gulfstream last out. He is bringing stakes and graded stakes experience to this 6f dust-up and the pp’s do show he has only been off the board once in all his lifetime outings! He does tend to go out early, leading and/or stalking but tends to faded at crunch time per those same pp’s! Might be a good 50 cent tri box try or a good fourth spot super filler!

Upgrade , at 12/1, is a turf sprinter by trade but last out came an ok 2nd in a Churchill $80k 3x Oc dirt 6f dash, run in 1:10 flat. This one also has 2 wins over the Keeneland poly track on his resume too! This one seems to be a horse in search of a distance and surface that works best for him, so super him only and only if the price is right as he isn’t in the same class here with the rest of this bunch!
