Shakin It Up comes late to take GI Malibu Stakes – Results and Replay

Shakin It Up – shaking them up at 17/1 in today’s GI Malibu Stakes here on Santa Anita’s opening day of the winter meeting!

It’s a sports axiom “that on any given day” . . . well today at Santa Anita Park Shakin It Up, at 17/1, did just as his name implies and shook things up on this opening day card here at Santa Anita to take down his first ever GI title in the $300,000, GI Malibu Stakes, for the 3yo boys, at 7f’s over a fast Santa Anita main with a late surge on the outside to win by a skinny 1/2 length!

Central Banker, at a very lofty 10/1 at post time was back that 1/2 length at the line for 2nd, 3rd went to Zeewat back less than 3/4’s of a length more, with race favorite Flashback, back another 2 3/4 lengths further to fill out today’s super!

The winning time of 1:20.53 was just a half second off the Santa Anita dirt track set by the great Spectacular Bid way back in 1980, any given day indeed!
