This Friday, Churchill Downs offers up the last GI of the handicap divisional season here in 2013 in the $500,000, GI Clark Hcp., for the older boys, at 1 1/8 mile over the Churchill Downs main!
“9” Older boys are coming out for this final GI of the Churchill Fall meet.
Will Take Charge , who nearly pulled off a big upset win in the B/C Classic last out losing by just a head bob, might be the crowd post time favorite here on Black Friday! He also looks to be a lock for the 3yo Male HOY right now, as well. He loves to come late, so don’t look for this one to be on the early pace here on Friday!
Game On Dude , 9th in that same B/C Classic tilt last out failed again to be first to the line as that race’s favorite again this year for the 3rd year in a row. But with a big win here however, might put him back in the older male HOY award spotlight, why give it to Wise Dan again this year if he does? Loves it up front setting his own pace and if he does he’ll be tons of trouble for the late closing Will Take Charge .
Golden Ticket , 2012’s deadheat GI Travers winner is coming off a solid performance in the B/C Dirt Mile as he was closing in late on Goldencents in the late stages of that race having to settle for a closing 2nd! This one is up and down over his career but off his latest performance he might be worth an exotic’s look here on Friday.
Prayer for Relief , who spent his 3yo season picking up winning paychecks on the 3yo 2nd graded level in 2011 winning more than a million dollars along the way. He also made a start in the 2011 B/C Classic too. Not gifted with great early speed nor is he a big time closer either. He does more stalking then anything else and from time to time over the past 2 seasons has found the winner’s circle in lesser company.
Finnegans Wake , leaves the turf for a dirt run here on Friday as he has always found a way to be in the mix in most of his graded turf adventures. Not a lot of dirt form here and hasn’t found the winner’s circle for a very long time either. He just feels wrong in this 2-turn shootout, but maybe he can come late for a super piece!
Bourbon Courage , who came 3rd here last year just length behind Shackleford, was 2nd in this year’s GI Donn Hcp and 3rd in the GII New Orleans Hcp early on this season. He then finish 4th in the GII Alysheaba here on Derby Day then was out of racing for an extended period then returned to racing in a Churchill Alw last out where he came a respectable 2nd! 1 1/8 mile is just his kind of distance and could find a home on the board here again with a top effort!
Easter Gift , who we saw looking so good in the $250,000, Mountain View Stakes at Penn National earlier this year then came 2nd in the $100k Alydar Stakes at Saratoga then 5th by 2 1/2 lengths in the GII Kelso Stakes at Belmont last out. This one’s not in the same class with this race’s favorites but at the right price could find a home at the back of our dime super thinking!
