The 3yo season looks to be revving up again at the end of July as the $1,000,000, GI William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes, at 1 1/8 mile, for 3yo’s only over the Monmouth Park main is scheduled for Sunday, July 28th.
Some early “Probables” are,
Oxbow – The GI Preakness Stakes winner and 2nd in the Belmont Stakes this year is coming out for this million dollar run!
Verrazano – winner of the GI Wood Memorial and GII Pegasus Stakes (the Haskell local prep race) here at Monmouth Park is a solid for this 2-turn, 3yo Jersey Shore summertime classic!
Power Broker – the Easy Goer Stakes winner at Belmont Park last out seems set to help the Baffert barn claim one more GI Haskell title having won the last three with Looking at Lucky, Coil and Paynter!
Golden Soul – who was 2nd in this year’s GI Kentucky Derby returns to he’s 3yo campaign with a GI Haskell start here on July 28th.
Mylute – 2nd in the GII Louisiana Derby and 3rd in the GI Preakness Stakes last out and did finish 5th in the GI Kentucky Derby this year could be a real threat here at this 1 1/8 mile distance.
Chief Havoc – who was clearly the best in the GII Swaps Stakes at BHP last out will have to ship east for this contest!
Micromanage – Recent winner of the Long Branch Stakes here at Monmouth Park last out is a lock as he knows his way around this surface already!
So, a good group of 3yo’s seems to be lining up for the 2013 edition of the $1,000,000, GI William Hill Haskell Invitational Stakes here at the “Shore’s Greatest Stretch” Monmouth Park this July 28th!
